The annual cost of accessing the National Do Not Call (DNC) Registry per area code of data is going up October 1, 2022. The increase by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is in accordance with progressive fees mandated by the Do-Not-Call Registry Fee Extension Act of 2007.

The higher fees represent an amendment to the FTC’s Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), which requires “telemarketers” calling consumers in the US to subscribe annually to the Federal DNC Registry to access and download registered numbers.

The annual fee to access numbers will increase to $75 from $69 per area code in fiscal year (FY) 2023, which begins on October 1, 2022. The maximum charge to a single organization for accessing all area codes nationwide will now be $20,740, up from $19,017 in FY 2022.

A crucial part of TCPA compliance, all businesses calling consumers are required to download and scrub for numbers listed on the National DNC Registry. As a result, they must subscribe each year for access to the Registry. Access to the first five area codes are free. However, after this, businesses who are not exempt must pay a fee for each area code.

While the increased fees coming in October are unavoidable, Convoso customers can simplify their Do Not Call compliance support by using our integration created in partnership with Contact Center Compliance. The integration gives Convoso customers direct access to dnc.com within the Convoso dialer software so that they can automate lead filtering for both state and national DNC registries. This automation reduces the amount of time it takes to scrub lists, resulting in improved dialing efficiency. The integration also scrubs for repeat litigators, a hazard not to be overlooked.
